We are all born inside a fence. Not the same fence, but we all have our own variation of restrictions-passed-down-to-us. The narrative passed down to Christian women by patriarchal religion tells us not only that we are bad, but that we need someone outside ourselves to save us. We need a revolutionary new spirituality, and a revolutionary term to describe it: the queendom of God.

Telling the stories of some of the strongest women in all of Scripture--like Delilah, Deborah, and Jael--as well as some of the most brutalized--like the daughter of Jephthah--Thy Queendom Come offers a new path forward. In the queendom of God, we are no longer waiting on a rescuer. We realize we are ready to conceive and give birth to new life--a creative act between God and us, no masculine authority necessary.

We can, as women, say yes to the divine annunciation, quite apart from any sinner's prayer, the blessing of priests, or an ordination by men. We can leave the narrow kingdom behind and embrace a more vibrant, just, and inspiring spiritual life in God's queendom.

Endorsements

"Kyndall Rothaus tells stories of the truth, power, courage, and grit of the women we so often have ignored because of the ways the dominant system works. These often-forgotten women of the Bible help us more clearly see the need for stories that make a profound break with the dominant system, the kind of spirituality that stewards the logic of liberation."

Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, founder of the Activist Theology project and author of Activist Theology

"Honest and liberating, Thy Queendom Come invites us to be citizens in a land like no other. Smashing the patriarchy has never been more life-giving."

Phyllis Trible, author of God and the Rhetoric of Sexuality, and Texts of Terror

"Rothaus skillfully reinvigorates the voices and counter-narratives of women in biblical text and urges us to explore a new way of being within ourselves and in the world--one that centralizes healing, truth, and awake-ness for both the silenced and the silencer."

Dr. Katie Lauve-Moon, author of Preacher Woman and assistant professor at Texas Christian University

"Rothaus offers a healing balm to our wounds of patriarchy, replacing our pain with power. Thy Queendom Come will leave you with chills, the hair on your arms standing on end."

Rev. Aurelia Dávila Pratt, lead pastor and a founder of Peace of Christ Church and cohost of the Nuance Tea podcast
